About the Founder

 Dr. LaKara Profit is a doctorally prepared psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, veteran, and lifelong advocate for holistic, person-centered care. With over a decade of clinical and leadership experience—including distinguished service in the U.S. Air Force—LaKara has dedicated her life to being of service to others. 

Her journey through both military and civilian healthcare systems inspired a bold vision: to bridge the gap in mental health care for those who are often overlooked— people of color, creatives, and individuals seeking support beyond the boundaries of traditional models.

Rooted in empathy and cultural humility, her work honors the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. As both a clinician and community healer, LaKara founded YANA to be more than an organization—it is a movement for healing, connection, and truth.

Through YANA, she is creating safe, affirming spaces where vulnerability is strength, creative expression is therapy, and no one has to navigate their mental health journey alone.
